Mix 22: Modus

Due to the hustle and bustle over the festive period we didn’t get the chance to congratulate Modus on his Outer Zone debut, The Triple M EP selling out at distro! For those still after a copy, fortunately there’s a very limited repress available from Rubadub and our Bandcamp which will be making its way to other stores very soon.

In celebration he supplies the latest instalment to the La Cheetah Club mix series. With a heavy hand in the notorious Substance parties over on the east coast, he’s certainly no stranger to the booth and this mix is every proof. Topping in at just over an hour, Modus delivers an astounding blend and insight into his encyclopaedic knowledge of techno and electro.

Throughout the mix, the sounds of second wave Detroit techno weave their way seamlessly into the realms of broken beat with driving melodies serving as a constant throughout. FM percussion and bass sounds meander their way over tripped out drum programming and dreamy pads, both reminiscent and a ‘must listen’ for fans of golden era Axis, Djax and Multiplex releases. This energetic selection is best suited to autobahns, post club aux sessions, intense gym workouts and the main stage at Wardmantel – enjoy!
